Momo is a very popular dish, which is enjoyed by many people from a young age to adulthood. It’s a dish that brings a lot of joy. There are very few people who don’t like momo. That’s why today I am here with an easy recipe to make momo.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Water (as needed)
For the Filling:
1 cup finely chopped chicken
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
2-3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tbsp ginger (grated)
1-2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For Steaming:
Water for steaming
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, add flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a soft, smooth dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Prepare the Filling:
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Add onions and cook until they become soft.
- Add the chopped cooked chicken and sauté for a few minutes until soften.
- Add soya sauce, salt, and pepper to taste, and stir everything together. Set aside to cool.
Assemble the Momo:
Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls.
Roll each ball into a thin round shape (about 3-4 inches in diameter).
Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle.
Carefully fold the edges and pinch them together to form a dumpling shape. You can fold it into pleats or seal it in any way you prefer.
Steam the Momo:
Prepare a steamer or use a steaming basket lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Place the momo in the steamer, ensuring they are not touching each other.
Steam for about 10-12 minutes or until the momo wrappers become shiny and soft.
Serve:
Serve the momo hot with your favorite dipping sauce (like a spicy chutney or soy sauce).
